Bridgeport residents are upset about the snow removal efforts made by the city after a record 30 inches of snow were dropped by Blizzard Charlotte.
And now, a Facebook page titled Tell Mayor Finch to resign was created to hold someone accountable for the cleanup. The page had 95 Likes as of 4 p.m.
"This isn't just an inconvenience. People's lives were in danger," said one unidentified Bridgeport resident. "He had a whole week before the storm to prepare for this. This was not rocket science."
He told Eyewitness News that he believes the city's biggest mistake was taking plows off the street during the height of the storm.
The mayor's office told Eyewitness News it took plows off the street at the height of the storm and said it was not going to put lives at risk because the conditions were so bad.
John Gnomes and his neighbors across town had to chip in and pay for this contractor to come help them dig out.
At least one of his neighbors had a different opinion about the storm response.
"Actually a lot of people would rate it bad, I thought they handled it well considering the amount of snow we had," said Arlene Peterson of Bridgeport.
The mayor's office said some Bridgeport residents are "have been unhappy with the pace of the snow removal process," but they are not alone.
The Mayor shares this frustration, and will be conducting a review of our storm response as we always do to determine how the city can improve," according to a statement from the Bridgeport mayor's office.
The mayor's office said it is continuing its cleanup efforts and they welcome feedback from any of the city's residents.
The city will hold a meeting to discuss storm-related topics and the amount of time available for public-speaking is extended until 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers, which is located at 45 Lyon Ter.
