PHOENIX (CBS5) -
The President's Day holiday gave jurors a respite from the first-degree murder trial of Jodi Arias.
After more than a month of testimony, the public has the intimate details about Arias' relationship Travis Alexander, with the man she confessed to killing, she said, in self-defense.
What people might not know is that there are more people in the courtroom than just family and friends.
"I could watch it on TV, but I couldn't see the jurors and that's what I wanted to see," said Mikal Ann Dillon, who has been watching trials for the past 37 years. "I'm 61 now."
She's been able to get inside the courtroom of the Arias trial five times.
"I wanted to see the men, because they were talking about how this woman had such an effect on the male gender," Dillon said. "So I wanted to see the males in the jury and watch their reactions."
But not everyone watches trials as a hobby.
"It's just really exciting," said Jamileh Scott.
Scott came downtown with a friend who grew up down the street from where Arias lived. Scott said being inside the courtroom gives a different perspective.
"You kind of get a little bit softer when you go in there, but then you have to remember why she's there," Scott said.
Both said say they hope to be able to get a seat inside the courtroom again.
This week, Dillon plans to be at Maricopa County Superior Court in the morning before the doors open. She said she wants to see prosecutor Juan Martinez at work.
"This guy gave the analogy of this guy being a pit-bull in a sandbox, and that's what I want to see."
