NORWALK, CT (WFSB) -

The Department of State said Friday that because of the sequester, Passport Day in the USA will no longer take place.

The Department Of State canceled the event, which was scheduled for Saturday.

Passport Day in the USA is an annual event in which Department of State passport agencies and participating nondepartment passport application acceptance facilities open their doors throughout the country for a special Saturday service.

The Department of State said it regrets that it cannot offer the service as planned, but said to visit the Passport Day in the USA website, or by calling the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778.
