Penn National speaks with Forest Park Civic Association

Posted: Updated:

Penn National's proposed Hollywood Casino would be in Springfield's North End, but last month city officials voted to allow all residents the opportunity to vote yes or no on a casino.

Sunday night, Penn National took their message to the Forest Park Civic Association, who met inside the Bing Arts Center.

Everyone wanted to hear from Penn National's public affairs director, Jeff Morris.

While Forest Park is not directly next door to the proposed casino, residents have concerns and the company said they want to listen.

Morris told CBS 3 that since Penn National passed phase two of the city's RFP, casino officials have been meeting on a weekly basis with Springfield officials as they negotiate a host agreement.

Penn National has proposed an $807 million casino resort.

MGM has proposed an $800 million resort in Springfield's South End.
