An 18-year-old man was taken into custody after a Walgreens was robbed overnight in Donelson.
Police said the incident occurred at a store at 518 Donelson Pike around 2 a.m.
The pharmacist reported that a man, later identified as Cody Unger, came to the counter and spoke with him before demanding hydrocodone and oxycodone at gunpoint.
Investigators said Unger, who lives in Old Hickory, TN, had visited the night before to fill a prescription for pain medication.
Police said Unger escaped with 700 prescription pain pills.
He had provided identification during his previous visit to the store. Detectives said he later surrendered to police and admitted to his involvement in the robbery.
The gun used in the hold-up was recovered from a dumpster near the pharmacy. Police said Unger was in possession of a small amount of the stolen pills when he was arrested.
Unger is charged with aggravated robbery and remains in jail.
