Gov. Dannel Malloy will head to New London Monday to discuss proposed gun laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting in December.
There he will meet with the mayor and police chief to discuss the proposals.
This comes after a two-weekend gun buyback program that police in the Whaling City are calling a success.
More than 200 firearms were collected in exchange for $20,000 in gift cards.
During the program, police said two assault weapons were handed over.
