Bristol police are investigating reports that a man tried to get a 9-year-old boy into the back of a van Monday evening.
The 9-year-old said he was walking in the area of Beech Street and North Pond Street just before 7:30 p.m. when a van, described as gray or green with no back windows parked across the street from his location.
The boy said a man, described as a light-skinned black man with a beard or possible goatee, 5 feet 7 inches tall, dressed in a dark winter coat and baseball hat exited the van.
The boy said the man then approached hi and said "Get in the van!"
The 9-year-old ran home.
Several Bristol police officers arrived at the scene quickly to investigate, but the van and driver were not located.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
