HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

A Hamden man, who was already in police custody, was arrested again after he allegedly kicked and spit in an officer's face.

According to police, Theodore Hawley, 40, "attempted to force entry into the apartment" in the 1000 block of Dixwell Avenue on the night of Feb. 21.

When officers responded to the emergency call from the homeowner, they found the door of the apartment, but no Hawley, who had fled on foot.

On Thursday, Hawley was arrested at his home on an unrelated charge, police said.

While taking Hawley to police headquarters, police said he yelled at officers and made inappropriate comments about the officer's family.

The officer stopped the vehicle in an attempt "to calm Hawley," however during the stop, he kicked the officer.

Hawley was charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree breach of peace, assault on a police officer and interfering with a police officer as well as two counts of refusal to be fingerprinted.

He is being on a $10,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned at Superior Court in Meriden on March 18.
