NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -
The Naugatuck Police Department arrested a 33-year-old man for stabbing a 16-year-old teenager last July.
According to police, Joseph Gay allegedly stabbed the unidentified teenager on Barnum Court on July 30.
The teenager was able to walk out of Gay's apartment and onto Rubber Avenue, where he was found around 9 p.m.
He was taken to area hospitals for medical treatment after suffering multiple stab wounds to the chest, back and arm
On Tuesday, Gay was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and procuring liquor for a minor.
The victim told police that Gay purchased alcohol and a tobacco product for him.
And later in the evening, Gay and the teenager got into a fight that lead to the stabbing, police said.
Gay was arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court Tuesday and is being held on a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court March 27.
