NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A pizza delivery man in West Haven is recovering after being attacked and shot at while making a delivery Thursday night.

Officers were called to the area of Elm Street near Third Avenue after shots were fired around 9:45 p.m.

Pizza delivery man Fatith Burhan told police that two men jumped him while walking back to his car after completing a delivery. He said he was punched in the side of the head.

"He came to me fast," Burhan said.

The suspects pointed a handgun at him and demanded money from the delivery man.

"He said, 'Just give me everything. Don't say anything, just give me everything, don't move,'" Burhan said.

The suspect fired in the delivery man's direction, but he was not hit by any bullets, police said.

Burhan said he heard five shots fired.

"I have a little headache, he punched my head," Burhan said.

Burhan said he believes the robbers were using some sort of BB gun, but police believe he was, in fact, shot at but not seriously hurt.

Police have not released a description of the suspects at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Haven Police Department at 203-937-3954 or by sending an anonymous tip to 203-847-411. All calls will be anonymous.
