An arrest has been made in the murder of a woman that occurred inside an apartment in Hartford over the weekend.

Police said they found the body of 59-year-old Sawrie Krichindath inside her Main Street apartment on Saturday, and now her boyfriend has been arrested and charged in connection with her death.

Police said Krichindath had been stabbed multiple times, and Hartford Major Crimes immediately launched an intense investigation to find her killer.

After the initial investigation, police arrested 52-year-old Robert White and was charged with murder.

White was arraigned at Hartford Superior Court and is being held on a $1 million bond. He is expected back in court on April 7.

White, who has a previous history of violent crimes including first-degree sexual assault, first-degree manslaughter and third-degree assault, was released from prison in 2011.

Krichindath's murder is the first homicide of the year for the city of Hartford.

Following White's court appearance, Rev. Henry Brown told reporters that police and the community of Hartford have been working together to reduce violence.
