New Haven mayor to hold budget presentations for residents

NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

New Haven mayor John DeStefano will hold four budget meetings across the Elm City in order to provide residents with information about his proposed city budget in the coming fiscal year.

At each of the meetings, DeStefano will answer questions from residents, and he is encouraging people to attend the informational meeting in order to gain a better understanding of the budget priorities and the challenges presented for the city.

"The City of New Haven has worked through some extremely hard economic times and is still thriving," DeStefano said in a statement. "This year, the City is presented with an even tougher challenge than is typical. Despite this, I am certain that if we are strategic and efficient, we can ensure the protection and growth of initiatives that are vital to our city. It will not be easy-we will have to make difficult decisions about what is essential versus what is desirable for our City-but I know we can do it."

The meetings have been scheduled for:

  • Tuesday: St. Bernadette's Church, 385 Townsend Ave. at 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Roberto Clemente School, 360 Columbus Ave. at 7 p.m.

The dates of the meetings that have been planned in April have yet to be announced.
