NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Newtown's former superintendent of schools will be coming back to his job temporarily as the town looks for a permanent replacement for its outgoing superintendent.

John Reed served as the leader of the Newtown School District for 28 years, the longest to hold that post in state history.

Newtown's current superintendent, Dr. Janet Robinson, announced she's leaving to take a job in Stratford.
