3-alarm fire knocked down in Torrington


Fire crews in Torrington worked to extinguish a large fire that broke out Wednesday morning.

Emergency officials said the fire that broke out at the multi-unit building, located at 222/224 N. Elm St., started on the first floor of the building after 9:30 a.m.

Around 14 people live in the building, but it's unknown how many were inside at the time the fire broke out.

One woman suffered a burn to her hand, but she was treated at the scene by EMS. Everyone else that was inside at the time of the fire was able to escape.

The fire remains under investigation.
