TV5 has learned ATF agents and Gladwin County sheriff's deputies have made arrests in the Gladwin gun shop robbery case.
A woman tells TV5 that Charles Rowan, whom police have sought since Monday afternoon in connection to the robbery and beating of a gun store owner near Gladwin, was arrested at her apartment in Unionville, Mich. early Wednesday morning.
The woman says Rowan is "a friend of a friend" and that he and Rosalinda Martinez showed up together at her place Tuesday night. When the apartment owner was letting her dog out Wednesday morning around 8 a.m., police swarmed her. She said authorities asked if Rowan and Martinez were inside and she said "yes." They then pushed her into the apartment and took the two into custody.
The witness to the raid said Rowan had flipped his cell phone on for just 12 minutes, and police were able to track it using GPS in that window of time.
Gladwin County Sheriff Mike Shea told TV5 that Guns and Stuff, a gun shop located at 895 Chappel Dam Rd. in Sage Township, just west of Gladwin, was allegedly robbed by an armed and masked man Monday afternoon around 2 p.m. At last check, the gun store owner, who suffered head injuries, was still hospitalized.
Police said they believe Rowan was connected to the crime and launched a massive search for him and Martinez, who they say may have witnessed the robbery.
Authorities also told TV5 Rowan is an absconder from probation and his criminal record shows he failed to register as a sex offender as well as attempting to deliver a controlled substance, marijuana in this case.
