SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The McHale family said their front yard in the Converse neighborhood of Spartanburg County is a tribute to the Island of The Dolls in Mexico - while neighbors said they are creepy.
There are dozens of creepy, mutilated dolls hanging from trees with darts, knives and even shovels through them.
"I've always decorated the inside of my house and I wanted to decorate the outside," said Larriatt McHale who lives in the house.
She said "decorating" the outside of her house was a New Year's resolution and that there is a message in her art.
"There's darts in their eyes and one hanging from a noose and these are things that can happen to children and people need to realize that ... I can see how people can find it disturbing but what they show on TV these days is a lot worse than what's in my yard," said McHale.
While neighbors said they want the art removed from the front yard, the Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement Department said the decor has not violated any ordinance.
