VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

The Vernon Police Department is looking for a woman who stabbed another female with a small screw driver during an attempted robbery at the Tri-City Plaza on Talcottville Road Tuesday night.

According to police, an unidentified woman was returning to her car, which was parked between Staples and Dress Barn  around 9 p.m.

She told police that a woman, who was accompanied by a man, struck her in the face and stabbed her.

After the attack, the suspects fled the scene without getting any money, police said.

Police said the suspects drove off in a late 90s black Honda Civic with a loud exhaust and possibly a lowered suspension.

Investigators believe the vehicle was headed toward Interstate 84.

The victim was treated at the scene and was not taken to a hospital.

The attempted robbery and assault remains under investigation by the Vernon Police Department.

Shoppers on Friday were "very nervous" about the attack and attempted robbery.

"That's the reality unfortunately," said Deana Miranda.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call police at 860-872-9126. All tips will be kept confidential.
