PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A 43-year-old motorcyclist died after he was struck and killed in a Phoenix intersection Tuesday evening.

Kirk D. Jarvis was riding his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Pecos Road about 6 p.m. when he collided with a 2007 Audi sedan driven by a 61-year-old woman in the intersection at 17th Avenue in Phoenix, according to Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Jarvis, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died, Thompson said.

The woman, who Thompson said is suspected of running a stop sign, was not hurt.

Thompson said there were no signs of impairment and the investigation was continuing.
