The Wolcott Police Department arrested an Oakville man for allegedly stealing from a business in town earlier this week.

On Monday, surveillance pictures were rolling as a man fled the Wolcott Power Equipment on Wolcott Road with two Husqvarna chain saws around 2:20 p.m.

The suspect was chased out of the store by the owner and into a waiting motor vehicle.

As the car pulled out the driveway of the business, the vehicle almost collided with a tractor trailer.

On Wednesday, Raymond Petro, 34, admitted to police that he stole the two chain saws and to other thefts in Rocky Hill and Newtown.

He told police that he stole items to support his drug addiction.

Police said media outlets, including Eyewitness News, broadcasting the surveillance video led to several tips and an arrest.

Petro was charged with fourth-degree larceny, however, more charges are expected to be filed.

He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
