PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Phoenix parks employee accused of sexual abuse in a series of crimes against children more than a decade ago pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday morning.
Arthur Rey Juarez, 42, who was scheduled to participate in an Easter Sunday activity with children, was arrested after a police investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct made by three victims in 2001, said Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos.
The children, ages 13, 14 and 15 years old at the time of the alleged crimes, told police then that the abuse and molestations happened between 1995 and 1998. The victims were contacted again in 2013 after a case review by the Child Crimes Task Force, and they said they wanted to pursue charges, Martos said.
The investigation began March 29 and culminated with Juarez's arrest the next day.
Because of his position with the city parks and recreation department and his access to children, detectives asked that anyone with information related to Juarez to call 602-262-4543.
