PD: Waterbury caretaker allegedly stole thousands from patients

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

The Waterbury Police Department arrested a 61-year-old woman, who is accused of stealing more than $40,000 from mentally disabled patients that she was caring for.

According to police, Madeline Asipi treated patients at their homes in Waterbury and previously worked for the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services and Southbury Training School.

Police said they have been investigating Asipi since 2011.

Asipi was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree larceny.
