A Westport woman is accused of purchasing thousands of dollars worth of art and home furnishings by fraudulently writing checks.
According to police, Lynn Marie Scalafani, 50, wrote checks for $30,000 worth of items, even though her checking account did not have sufficient funds to cover those expenses.
Police said she tried to purchase the items from large big boxes as well as small boutique stores all located in Westport.
Scalafani was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny and issuing a bad check.
Police arrested Scalafani while she was making a court appearance on unrelated charges.
Scalafani is being held on a $21,000 bond and her next court appearance is on April 15.
