Truck slams into building in East Haven

EAST HAVEN, CT (WFSB) -

A truck slammed into a building in East Haven on Monday morning following a multi-vehicle crash.

At about 7:30 a.m., police said four vehicles, including at least one truck, were involved in a crash in the area of 30 Main St.

The truck involved in the crash ended up crossing the median and slamming into the Happy Feet Dance Studio, causing structural damage.

"I look out the window and I see the back of the truck halfway out of the building," said building owner Jim Triantis, who was next door at the diner.

Nobody was inside the building at the time of the crash.

A total of three people were injured, although police said they were not serious in nature.

A building inspector was called in to assess the damage to the building, but police said the results of the investigation have not been released.

Triantis said in 2011 a big fire caused by a faulty air conditioner led to the Lou Buccini's real estate business being displaced.

"They just told me it was structurally sound, so I guess it could be repaired," said Lou Buccini of Style Appraisal Services.

A big recital was planned at the Happy Feet Dance Studio in the coming weeks.

Triantis said they are trying to secure the front area so they can continue rehearsing for that big recital.

A hair dresser on the second floor of the building will remain open.
