If you haven't paid your parking fines in Waterbury, you better get to it before your vehicle gets the boot - literally.
The Brass City is teaming up with a Georgia-based company that drives around and scans licence plates on various vehicles.
Anyone caught with an unpaid ticket or taxes will get a boot.
"There's a sticker fixed to the window with the contact information to call," said Waterbury Tax Collector Karen Mulcahy. "They'll take certified funds and they'll release the boot. They tell me the turn around time is about 25 minutes."
The company then gets paid through the $125 boot fee, and most of the money paid to the city will go to the general fund.
Because of the threat of getting the boot, long lines formed at Waterbury City Hall on Monday morning.
City officials said most of the revenue is collected up front, but the contract with the company is for three years.
Nearly $2 million in back taxes and fines are expected.
