Norwich police said Washington Street will be closed until further notice after an overnight crash.
Officials said they were called to the area shortly after 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a single car accident.
Police said the vehicle struck a telephone pole, which caused wires to come down across the roadway. The occupant of the vehicle was trapped for a short time until the power company was able to disconnect the downed wires.
They were removed a short time later and taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The road is closed from the intersection with Route 2/32 north towards Town Street.
