STORRS, CT (WFSB) -

The UConn women's basketball team returned to Connecticut after winning their eighth title Wednesday.

The Huskies arrived at Bradley International Airport about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and brief remarks were given by coach Geno Auriemma and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman before returning to campus.

The team rode around the Storrs campus "in an open-air double decker bus and will be accompanied by the UConn pep band and cheerleaders," according to the UConn website.

There was a crowd of about 150 people waiting for the team at Bradley International Airport Wednesday afternoon.

Auriemma and members of the team including senior Kelly Faris spoke at Fairfield Way Plaza near the Student Union.

There was a crowd of more than 2,000 people in attendance on the Storrs campus.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who went to New Orleans to watch the championship game, announced via Twitter that there will be a victory parade and rally.

However, no date or time has been set.

UConn beat Louisville 93-60 Tuesday night for the team's eighth national title.
