PLAINFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

The former owner of a Plainfield DJ company is facing charges of child pornography and sexual assault.

According to court documents, James M. Holmes, 29, of Middleboro, MA, had relationships with two 15-year-old girls. Both knew him through family members and worked at his DJ company JProductions from time to time.

In April 2012, members of the Plainfield Police Department were tipped off that Holmes was in possession of the child porn, and a search warrant was executed at his company, JProductions, of Oakwood Boulevard in Plainfield.

JProductions performed at schools across New England, including in Plainfield.

Since the raid, officials said JProductions has not been used at any of the schools in Plainfield.

Holmes was arrested Wednesday and charged with:

  • Possession of child porn
  • Second-degree sexual assault (two counts)
  • Fourth-degree sexual assault (two counts)
  • Illegal sexual assault  (two counts)
  • Employing a minor in an obscene performance

"The prosecutor's information is that there was a consensual relationship between Mr Holmes and this young woman," Holmes' attorney Neil Tassel said. "However misguided it might have been, that's the allegation."

According to court documents, police said one of the 15 year old victims had physical contact with Holmes.

Both told police he had them send nude photos of themselves to his phone.

Police said in Holmes' email account they found hundreds of pornographic images of multiple females performing various acts including dozens of photos of the two alleged victims.

According to court documents, Holmes talked about his age to one of the girls and knew he would get into trouble, and he said not to tell anyone.

Holmes was supposed to DJ the prom at Plainfield High School last year, just weeks after the raid at his business.

"Kinda creeped out," said Ashley McCarthy of Plainfield. "He was there and I was in a skirt for cheerleading. That's weird."

Holmes had been held in lieu of $200,000 bond until he was arraigned in Danielson Superior Court Wednesday afternoon.

"He was released to come here today to answer to these charges," Tassel said. "He showed up voluntarily. He answered the warrant."

Holmes did not answer any questions from Eyewitness News after leaving the courthouse.

Students at Plainfield High School told Eyewitness News they're glad he has been arrested.

"I think that he deserves what he got," said senior Ryan Trudelle. "And I think that he'll deserve whatever the outcome is."

Holmes was released on a promise to appear for his next appearance at Danielson Superior Court. Tassel said he had to be back at his family's Massachusetts home by 5 p.m.
