HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
Authorities have arrested a man wanted in connection with a series of groping incidents on Connecticut Transit buses.
Jesus Ayala, 58, faced a judge at Hartford Superior Thursday and police said the incidents occurred in Hartford and Manchester.
At least two victims have come forward and told police that there were groped.
According to arrest warrants, a 16-year-old girl said she was touched inappropriately in December, while a 18-year-old woman said it happened to her in January.
"The suspect ... used his elbow to move her bookbag from her lap in order to feel her leg. He also touched her breast(s) several times with his elbow despite her protests," according to court documents.
A few months ago, surveillance photos were released to Eyewitness News when police asked for your help finding him.
Bus drivers told Eyewitness News that Ayala, who lives in East Hartford, boarded buses several times in Hartford, Manchester and East Hartford.
"That's ridiculous," Austin Campbell said. "I don't know why you would touch women and stuff, like, come on now."
He was caught in Queens by the New York Police Department last week. He was brought to Connecticut Wednesday.
Police pointed out the accusation on video to Ayala. He told police "he sat next to numerous females while riding the buses, but never touched them on purpose."
According to court documents, Ayala also goes on to say "he would accidentally touch them with his arm because of the lack of space."
"There's a lot of stuff going on in the buses so when they can catch someone great," Campbell said.
In court, the judge ordered Ayala to stay off Connecticut Transit buses.
Ayala is back in court May 9.
