LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) -

U.S. Sen. and former Republican presidential nominee John McCain is scheduled to discuss current affairs during a lecture in central Arkansas.

The Arizona Republican is to speak Friday evening in Little Rock.

McCain was originally scheduled to speak last month at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, but his lecture was pushed back because of a scheduling conflict.

McCain was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982. He is now serving his fifth term in the U.S. Senate.

He won the Republican nomination for president in 2008 and lost to President Barack Obama in the general election.
