A former fencing coach at a public school in Fairfield was arrested Thursday after being accused of sexually assaulting a student.
John Tejada, 36, of Cheshire was charged with second-degree sexual assault.
Police said Tejada was the Fairfield Warde and Ludlowe High School fencing coach from 2010 to 2012.
According to police, the Fairfield Board of Education placed Tejada on administrative leave in February 2012. He would resign a short time later.
He was also a fencing coach at Wakeman's Boys and Girls Club in Southport and the Fairfield Fencing Academy during the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years.
Tejada, who worked for WFSB seven years ago, is expected to be arraigned at Fairfield Superior Court on April 25 and was released on a $150,000 bond.
