8 people injured after car crashes into nail salon

STRATFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Multiple people were injured after a motor vehicle crashed into a nail salon in Stratford Friday evening.

Police said the crash occurred at Pretty Nails in the 400 block of Barnum Avenue around 4 p.m.

Eight people were taken to area hospitals for treatment with one person in critical condition, police said. All the other victims were being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, Dennis Leach, 46, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence  as well as four counts of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, five counts of third-degree assault and one count of risk of injury to a minor.

The crash remains under investigation by the Stratford Police Department and anyone with any information is asked to call 203-385-4158 or 203-385-4159.
