Police have arrested a Clarksville man and charged him with killing his own mother.
On April 7, around 9:15 a.m., police were called to an apartment on Central Avenue. Police found Ethel Adamson, 60, alive but unconscious inside the residence. She had sustained a wound to her head, according to police.
She was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt where she died April 9.
While police were processing the crime scene, several items were collected and turned into evidence, including a hammer.
Lee Watts, 43, was developed as a suspect early in the investigation. A detective found that there were inconsistencies found in the information Watts provided to police.
Police believe that Watts hit his mother in the head with a hammer and left the home with money belonging to her.
Watts was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Saturday morning. He's being held on $500,000 bond and charged with criminal homicide.
