A Norwich couple was arrested after police they caught with a bag of crack cocaine Saturday evening.
Officers spotted 29-year-old William Torres with his wife, Christina Owens, 28, and their 7-year-old daughter at the Carnival in Willimantic around 5 p.m.
Police said there was an active warrant for Torres' arrest. And when officers went to arrest, police said Torres resisted arrest and handed a bag of crack cocaine to Owens.
Owens then walked away with the child and the drugs, according to police.
A short time later, Owens was arrested and officers seized a bag of crack cocaine, which had a street value of $560.
Torres and Owens were not injured, however one officer did suffer minor hand injuries during the arrest, police said.
The couple's daughter was given to a relative and the Department of Children and Families was notified about the arrests.
Owens and Torres were both charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell near a school, interfering with police officer, breach of peace, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and risk of injury to a minor.
Torres was also charged with assault with police officer.
