HAMDEN, CT (WFSB) -

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Hamden officials plan on holding a public meeting on a proposal to clean up and restore sections of the Newhall neighborhood.

At the meeting, scheduled for Monday evening, plans will be discussed for the cleanup, restoration and improving Rochford Field and Mill Rock Park.

At the meeting, officials are expected to also outline plans to address soil contamination at the two parks, and will also discuss the planned improvements once the soil issues are addressed.

The plans being presented call for DEEP and Hamden to share the estimated $9 million for the cleanup efforts.

Some of the cleanup and restoration plans call for the rebuilding of the softball and baseball fields at Rochford Field and new tennis courts, basketball courts, children's playground and outdoor stage at Mill Rock Park.

The meeting is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Miller Library's Thornton Wilder Hall, located at 2901 Dixwell Ave.
