Man, who died in house fire in Wethersfield, identified by authorities

WETHERSFIELD, CT (WFSB) -

Emergency officials have identified the 26-year-old man who died during a fire at a home in Wethersfield early Monday morning.

Crews were called to the home on Glenwood Drive shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Officials said Christopher G. Abreu died from smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News the homeowner was in Portugal on vacation at the time of the fire. 

Abreu was the son of the homeowner, neighbors said.

The cause of fire remains under investigation by the Wethersfield Fire Marshal's Office and the State of Connecticut Fire and Explosion Investigations Unit.
