GLASTONBURY, CT (WFSB) -
Glastonbury Police Department said three people followed a black man to his own home and then beat him up.
Patrick Loughlin, 32, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit intimidation based on bigotry, accessory to commit intimidation based on bigotry and following too closely with the intent to harass.
According to Glastonbury police, sometime after midnight on Jan. 27, Loughlin along with an unidentified man and woman had left a bar in Berlin.
The alleged 20-year-old victim told police he was on Route 3 when he cut Loughlin off. The victim then got off a Glastonbury exit with Loughlin tailgating him.
According to the police report, all three people got out of the car and the victim was punched multiple times and called racial slurs.
The victim, who was alone in the car, suffered minor injuries.
According to the police report, the victim had his head stapled and his right hand stitched after the incident.
After he turned himself into police three months after the incident, Loughlin admitted he then tailgated and bumped the car, according to the police report.
He added that he got out and exchanged words with the driver.
Loughlin, who has been arrested on drug charges and failure to appear in court, appeared in Manchester Superior Court on Tuesday and more charges may be pending.
He is due back in court on May 16.
Eyewitness News tried calling Loughlin, but the line was disconnected and no one was home when the station visited Wednesday afternoon.
The Glastonbury Police Department told Eyewitness News they are still investigating this case.
Loughlin's two passengers haven't been charged, but investigators told Eyewitness News that could change.
Loughlin told police he doesn't know their names because they are only acquaintances of his.
