NEW RIVER, AZ (CBS5) -
A drag racing enthusiast is thankful his cars were saved after a fire in a large metal garage in New River on Wednesday night.
The garage housed two drag racing cars, tools and other equipment when it caught fire just before midnight. The garage near Seventh Avenue north of the Carefree Highway was free-standing and didn't threaten other structures, said a spokesman for the Daisy Mountain Fire Department.
Most of the damage was limited to a loft where parts were kept.
There was no cause and no estimate of damage immediately available.
