Sunday morning, kids and their parents from all over Western Mass attended a free kids fishing derby at the West Springfield Fish and Game Club.
The derby was hosted, coordinated and staffed by 16-year-old Tyler Loubier.
The Agawam High School sophomore created the event as part of the requirements to receive Eagle Scout status within the Boy Scouts.
The free event not only had a fishing derby, but there were plenty of prizes.
Loubier told CBS 3 that the event was all about giving back to the community through something he loves.
"I thought a fishing derby would benefit my community a lot because there are kids out here with their families having a fun time," said Loubier. "Pretty much all of this was done with donations too. So I was able to get a lot of prizes and stuff. So, I'm pretty much giving back to them."
Loubier said he raised over $3,000 in donations from local businesses.
