Motorists in North Smithfield got a surprise when they saw a funnel cloud.
WPRI-TV reports that the funnel cloud formed Thursday evening. A funnel cloud becomes a tornado if it touches the ground, but a WPRI meteorologist says this funnel cloud was weak and narrow.
Craig LaPointe, of Worcester, Mass., was stopped for a bathroom break with his wife and two young daughters when he spotted the cloud and took video of it. He says he could see the cloud twist and pull, and called the experience pretty scary.
