NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -

The Sandy Hook Promise teamed up with OPI to launch a new, limited edition nail color to be donated and used at the first Sandy Hook Green Salon-a-Thon event.

The color features a bright, bold green that has been associated with solutions to try and stem acts of violence.

OPI officials said the company has donated 10,000 bottles of the color to the Sandy Hook Promise to support their efforts to ensure communities across the country are safer from acts of violence.

The first Salon-a-Thon will be held at Ricci's Salon and Spa and Academy of Cosmetology in Newtown.

The event will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the salon located at 99 South Main St. in Newtown.

Appointments are being suggested, but walk-ins are also welcome for a variety of spa services, which also include a free bottle of Sandy Hook Green.

In addition, anyone who can't stay for salon services will receive a few bottle of the limited addition color with a $10 donation to the Sandy Hook Promise.
