Doughboy statue vandalized in Clarksville

Posted: Updated:

Clarksville police are searching for the people responsible for vandalizing a monument honoring soldiers who died in World War I.

Someone stole the bronze rifle from the Doughboy statue over the weekend, and it's not the first time this happened.

The rifle and the statue's left hand were stolen on Thanksgiving Day 2010.

They were later returned and a local artist repaired the statue.

The Doughboy statue was erected in 1929 near Legion Street in downtown Clarksville.
