A man police say left the scene of a crash and his 1-year-old in the car on Tuesday in western Kentucky has been arrested.
Joshua Russell, 21, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, no registration, no registration receipt, wanton Endangerment (3 Counts).
The two car wreck happened Tuesday around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 239 and State Route 1128, approximately 2 miles south of Cayce, Kentucky in Fulton County.
According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, a Ford Mustang went too far into the intersection and it ended up colliding with a Chrysler 300.
Officers say the driver of the Mustang, Joshua Russell, fled the scene leaving his 1-year-old infant and two adults behind.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and there were no reported injuries.
Officers searched the area for Russell, but were unable to find him at the time.
Around 8 p.m., the Fulton Co Dispatch Center received reports that Russell had been seen several miles west of Cayce on Route 94.
Officers say the Graves County Sheriff's Office with K-9, and Pennyrile Drug Task Force arrived and searched for Russell, but did not find him.
Then, around 8 p.m. Wednesday, the Fulton County Dispatch Center received a call that Russell was seen in the area of St Rt 94 & 1212 behind a house. Russell was taken into custody without incident; he stated "he was tired of running".
Russell was taken to the Fulton County Detention Center.
He is set to appear before Fulton County District Judge Hunter Whitesell on Tuesday, May 21.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office thanks the citizens, local media, and the FCSO FB fans for assisting in getting the information out on this individual that led to his apprehension.
