It was probably one of, if not the most eagerly awaited lottery drawings in the country's history as 43 states looked on with $600 million on the line in Saturday night's Powerball.
Those numbers were: 10, 13, 14, 22, 52 and Powerball 11.
Whether or not you were outside or inside the Country Trading Store, the hype surrounding Saturday night's $600 million drawing could not be missed.
A steady stream of customers made their way in throughout the day, all with their sights set on holding the winning ticket.
"My friend told me about it, and I said I will buy some tickets. Why not?" said Carole LaPlante of Palmer.
"It is unbelievable," said Alex Jenderysik of Chicopee. "I would take care of my friends and family. I would invest it. Can you even invest $600 million?"
Lottery officials were counting on Massachusetts residents to continue to invest in Powerball, to the tune of up to $24,000 per minute before cut-off time. The number is that high thanks to people who do not usually take part in the lottery.
"You know I drive up and down this road all the time and see the number go up every once in a while," said Jenderysik. "I figured $600 million is a lot of money."
And if a local happens to strike it big, they would like to believe that huge sum of money would not alter their life too much.
"It would not change anything in my life," said LaPlante. "I would be the person I am, but I would help a lot of people I know and love for sure."
