Police arrest 2 men for stealing thousands of pounds of metal

SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Two Bristol men were arrested for allegedly stealing $25,000 worth of scrap metal from a business in Southington.

Gary M. Desrochers and Nicholas B. Marin are accused of stealing 39,000 pounds of "tool-grade metal" from  CV Tool on Robert Porter Road on April 8, police said.

Police said after the theft, the two suspects sold the metal to a local scrap yard.

Desrochers and Marin were arrested on May 15 and charged with first-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit criminal trespass, third-degree criminal trespass, third-degree conspiracy to commit criminal mischief and third-degree criminal mischief.

Both men were arraigned at Bristol Superior Court on May 15 and their next court appearnace is on June 18. They have not entered a plea at this time. 

Desrochers and Marin are each being held on $100,000 bond.
