BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -
The Michigan State Police bomb squad was called to a pawn shop in Bay City.
The Bay County Sheriff's department said someone was hoping to pawn the hand grenade but when staff at the shop saw it, they called police.
When the bomb squad arrived at Golden Tree Pawn, at 1570 S. Euclid Ave., they examined the grenade and determined it was inert. It was taken to a place to be destroyed.
In early May, a Mount Pleasant homeowner made a terrifying discovery while going through "some old stuff" and stumbled upon an old World War II grenade. The bomb squad was called out to examine that device too.
