An audit of Winsted's 2011 finances shows more than $500,000 is missing from town accounts.
The Waterbury Republican American reports the audit was released Tuesday, about 17 months after it was due to the state Office and Policy and Management.
It says town management believes the missing money was misappropriated, and that the misappropriation of assets is not limited to that fiscal year.
State police have been investigating the town's finances since January. No arrests have been made.
