A high pressure system centered over the eastern Atlantic is responsible for this long stretch of gorgeous summer-like weather we've been having this week, and it continues to bring us sunshine today. We'll see a few passing clouds, but otherwise expect mostly sunny skies with Upstate highs in the middle 80s, to near 80° in western NC. Partly cloudy skies return to the area late Thursday afternoon. Friday we'll stay dry again but continue with partly cloudy skies, as well as having a bit of humidity return. Highs in the low to mid 80s will feel stickier than they have all week thus far. Over the weekend, the Atlantic high pressure system will slowly move away from the coast, giving a chance for more clouds to build in advance of a late-weekend cold front. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies Saturday, with a possible isolated storm to pop up in the afternoon. Sunday we'll see the cold front move in from the west, and with humid air in place we'll likely pop some showers and thunderstorms during the day in advance of the front. Expect showers and storms to continue through the passing of the front overnight, with more wet weather expected on Monday.
