Rain means a slow start to swimming pool season

Posted: Updated:

Typically, June is a busy season for swimming pool companies, but recent storms in addition to all the rain we have already seen, is putting a halt on plans Thursday.

The severe weather and flooding is making it difficult for swimming pool companies sales and business.

"The weather has been terrible," said Namco President and CEO Mark Scott. "We've had three nice days so far this year, and we had one fantastic weekend of sales."

The rain has also brought pool installations to a standstill. Scott said the ground has to be level and can't be muddy.

"This is the busiest time of the year for us for installation," said Scott. "Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather, but once the weather cooperates we will do everything in our power to catch up."

However, the slow business does help customers who are buying supplies, since there are a lot of discounts.

Namco said they do not usually install pools on Saturdays and Sundays, but once the weather clears up they are going to bring in additional contractors to help catch up as much as they possibly can.
