Wilbraham police seized around $90,000 worth of marijuana and arrested two people after breaking up a drug growing operation in the town early Monday morning.
"That's very surprising to me, I would not expect that on this street at all," said Wilbraham resident Nolan Toski.
Around 6 a.m. members of the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Wilbraham Police Department served a search warrant at 6 Highmoor Dr.
"In the basement was a major growing operation of marijuana about 42 potted plants and numerous buds," said Wilbraham Police Captain Timothy Kane.
Dominic Arillotta, 43, and Allison Santos, 42, were arrested as a result. Both are facing a variety of charges including possession with intent to distribute class D marijuana.
"This is like the third or fourth major grow of marijuana in Wilbraham and for a very small town that's pretty big. I think this will have a major damper on the sales and illegal buying of marijuana," said Kane.
Also taken from the home were grow lamps, sophisticated venting and filtration systems, processed marijuana for sale and cash.
