A man, who has made threats against West Haven Public Schools in the past, was arrested after he is accused of shooting a pellet gun from a compost pile Thursday morning.
Officers were called to city's compost site on Kimberly Avenue around 9 a.m. after a report of a suspicious person with a rifle.
They located Ryan Lafrance, 19, of West Haven, who cooperated with police and was arrested.
There are no reported injuries.
Lafrance, who has a long criminal history, has "previously threatened city schools with 'Columbine results.'"
On Thursday, Lafrance was charged with second-degree breach of peace, violation of a protective order and second-degree criminal trespass.
Lafrance was held on an undisclosed bond and scheduled to be arraigned at Milford Superior Court on July 2.
